Healthcare spaces delivered quickly and flexibly

HyMy Village at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki is a people-oriented, multidisciplinary learning environment in which students provide well-being and healthcare services to real clients.

Metropolia needed additional medical consulting rooms quickly, without the delays or costs of a full renovation. The goal was to divide a large classroom into several consultation rooms that meet AVI requirements for room size, soundproofing, and accessibility. The aim was to use the space as efficiently as possible and maximize the number of rooms.

This type of solution can also be applied in other environments where healthcare spaces need to be implemented quickly and meet strict requirements.

Instead of traditional renovation, Metropolia chose Octacell’s modular solution, which allows fully functional healthcare facilities to be built rapidly inside existing spaces without permanent structural changes or interruptions to ongoing activities.

Fast and flexible modular solution

Octacell’s modular medical consulting rooms were installed directly inside the existing space. The structure created separate, sound-insulated rooms with accessible entry and layouts that meet healthcare standards. The scalable design allows the rooms to be modified or repurposed later if needed.

The turnkey delivery minimized disturbances at HyMy Village. Four customized Octacell 5X4 consulting rooms were completed and ready for use in only one week.

Functional and high-quality facilities

The new Octacell rooms are designed for healthcare and advisory services, including adult health counseling, breastfeeding guidance, and wound care. Each space is Class A sound-rated and equipped with water points, ventilation, and adjustable lighting. Accessible entrances, easy-to-clean surfaces, sprinklers, and a fire alarm system support safety and hygiene requirements.

Even in a busy campus environment, the structural sound insulation secures privacy in every consultation.

The solution combined fast installation, a modular structure, and compliance with regulatory requirements without heavy renovation. The result is a modern, functional environment that supports both teaching and client services. The solution supports a broader shift toward more accessible healthcare services, where medical consulting rooms can be implemented in different environments without heavy construction.
